Anton Bast

Greetings from Germany  Matthias Bast

Here is some information on Anton Bast and Mary Elizabeth Kepford: Anton Bast, farmer, born 28. July 1856 in Kalt, Mayen-Koblenz, Germany; died 4. Feb. 1940 in Carroll City, Carroll, Iowa. He was the son of Peter Bast, farmer, and Catharina Puetz. Married 18. Nov. 1890 in Dunlap, Iowa, to Mary Elizabeth Kepford, born 17. June 1850 in Oxford, Iowa; died 19. Dec. 1943 in Buck Grove, Iowa. They had the following children (adopted): Frank Bast (Winneka) Anna Bast (Winneka) Minnie Bast (Winneka) Anton Bast was the brother of my great-grandmother Christina Plenz Further information:
Anton Bast was buried Feb. 6, 1940 in Denison, Iowa; Mary Elizabeth Bast was buried Dec. 22, 1943 in Denison, Iowa.

Correction: Mary Elizabeth was born NEAR Oxford, Iowa (it could be Clear Creek Twp.?). It seems to me that the adopted children did not use the family name Bast, they kept the name Winneka. Frank (* 1891), Minnie (*1893) and Anna (*1896).  The picture shows Anton Bast.
